Read bellow Q&A to learn how to take proper care of your jewelry and ensure that it lasts for years.
1. HOW TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE GOLD PLATED JEWELRY?
Always store your jewelry in the separate pouch or box that you have received it in. The pouch/box prevents jewelry from getting rubbed and scratched against other pieces, which is one if the reasons why jewelry gets dull and looses it's shine.
Always store your jewelry in in a cool and dry place when not worn, away from the water. Dont leave your jewelry in the bathroom. Humidity is the number one reason why jewelry get darkened and looses its shine.
Gently clean your jewelry once a month with a soft, non abrasive cloth to remove the build up of dust and grease from frequent wearing and maintain lasting shine and bright gold color.
2. CAN I SWIM WEARING GOLD PLATED JEWELRY IN A POOL OR OCEAN?
Jewelry with stainless steel base is water and tarnish resistant and can be worn when swimming in the pool or ocean.
Jewelry with brass base should not be worn when swimming in the pool or ocean. Salty or chlorinated water will trigger corrosion process that will eventually destroy the gold plating. Remember never to swim wearing your jewelry as even a single time exposure to salt or chlorine will trigger the tarnishing process that unfortunately cannot be reversed. If it happened that you swam wearing your jewelry in the pool or ocean- wash your jewelry with clean water as soon as possible as then dry with a soft cloth.
3. CAN I WEAR GOLD PLATED JEWELRY WHEN TAKING SHOWER?
Occasional exposure to tap water will not damage high quality gold plated jewelry, but we recommend avoiding showering with the jewelry on frequently because products like shower gel, soap or shampoo will cause your jewelry to become dull and/or tarnished.
Frequent exposure to tap water will also result in brass jewelry loosing its shiny gold color over time.
4. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO MAKE SURE MY JEWELRY LASTS FOR A LONG TIME?
Chemicals in products like sun tanning lotion, hair spray, perfume, nail polish remover, body oils, deodorant will damage gold plated/gold filled jewelry and trigger the corrosion process that will eventually lead to darkening & dulling of the jewelry.
To make sure your jewelry lasts for years, make sure that putting your jewelry on is the last step of your dressing up routine.
If you wear your jewelry at the beach - please make sure the sun screen you apply is absorbed by your skin before you put your jewelry on.
5. HOW TO CLEAN GOLD PLATED JEWELRY?
Clean your jewelry regularly with the soft, non abrasive cloth. Simply wipe your jewelry to remove grease and dirt that might accumulate on the surface if you wear your jewelry frequently. This will help maintain the shine and bright gold color.
